A. The Candy Fund provides scholarship for writing classes and programs provided primarily by organizations based in
Western North Carolina and held in Western North Carolina or contiguous areas. Eligible programs include writing workshops, retreats, and classes. Scholarships can be used for program costs only and may not be used for other expenses such as transportation or child care.

B. Scholarship recipients must be women at least 21 years old who reside in Western North Carolina.
C. Scholarships are generally limited to no more than 50 percent of the program's cost or $250, whichever is less.
D. There is a lifetime limit of $500 that any individual may receive from The Candy Fund.
E. Applications should be postmarked by the 5th of the month to be considered within that calendar month. An application received with a later date may be held for consideration the following month, although no application will be approved retroactively for a program that has already begun.
